--Market research firm NPD said on 15/10 for the video game sales through mobile phones, social networks, software and download for free registration in first half of 2010 in the U.S. market reached $ 2.9 billion.
This is the first company to make NPD sales figures for non-traditional video games, and provides evidence that consumer spending on video games 40% higher than what is published ago.
Earlier, NPD said sales of the devices and video game software fell 8% in September. Software sales fell 6% to $ 614 million, while hardware sales dropped 19% to just U.S. $ 383 million.
NPD says that many customers are buying the video game software via download or on online social networks to play games by companies like Zynga supply.
