You can adjust the display so many more icons in the right pane of the Explorer window when viewed in thumbnails mode, by hiding the names appear below the icons go. Select the files or folders you want to compress, right-click them and select P roperties. On the General tab, select Advanced. Check mark up items Compress contents to save disk space and click OK. You may be asked to indicate what files and folders you want included.

When you insert a CD into the CD-ROM drive, Windows will place a number of actions to choose from. You can answer once for each type of content (like music), but if you want to disable this feature, right-click the CD drive in Explorer and choose Properties, the AutoPlay tab, select an internal content from the list of content types at the top, and select the appropriate action below tho mind you. To disable this function for any kind of content you need to specify the content for it below the Take no action and click OK.13. (XP) defragmentation-Part 2:
To compress an entire NTFS partition on the hard drive, right click the drive icon in Explorer and select Properties. Check the items Compress drive to save disk space, and then click OK or Apply. When it will appear asking for confirmation, in which you choose compress all subfolders and files (not just in the root directory) and click OK.
14. (ME, XP) defragmentation, part 3:
You can also compress files automatically by putting them into the compressed folder. To create this directory, simply by right-clicking in any window or folder on your desktop, choose New, Compressed Folder (in Windows Me) or New, Compressed (zipped) Folder (in XP) . If you do not see this function, you should check to make sure it is installed.
15. (XP, 2K) Choose a name for the drive:
If you want to rename the name of the drive, log on to Windows with administrative rights (Administrator), select Start, Run, type command and press Enter diskmgmt.msc. Right-click a drive up the bottom of the window and select Change Drive Letter and Paths. Select Edit, or Change, select one of the characters may be used to name from the list, click OK, correct answer all reminders received, and press OK again.
